M Y T H

I used to be...

the skyline where our words would interject, the empty space where you would sketch your desires, the Verb that awaited conjugation -- always at the edge of your lips, the hurt that lingered from your mind's eye, the ground beneath your feet, the reminiscence of a (lost) paradise, the starlight in your eyes, the arsonist that set ablaze quiet explosions in your chest, the frailty of your Absolution, the warning of your Crime, the author of your heart's beat(s), the unchained melody that speared from your broken lungs, the drunkard that consumed your every breath;

now, I am the myth that speaks through the water - a reflection that unfolds upon prayer: all that you couldn't leave behind.
